Robert Lee Haynes, Jr., 85, of Thomasville, passed away peacefully October 3, 2026, at the Hospice Home of High Point.
Born September 22, 1941, in High Point, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Haynes, Sr., and the late Mary Magdaline Haynes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Haynes; and his siters, Mary Gann, and Elizabeth Haynes.
Robert graduated from High Point Central High School and later retired from Henredon Furniture. He was one of the first Emergency Medical Technicians that went through the training for his certification. He was a volunteer Fire Captain for the Horneytown Fire Department.
He was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church in Thomasville and was dedicated to helping people as a part of the Baptist on Mission an auxiliary of the Baptist State Convention. For many years he went on trips to Honduras to help build houses and disaster relief. He spent many hours helping repair roofs and building ramps for senior citizens. Robert enjoyed working on cars and taking trips to the beach and mountains.
Left to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 33 years, Linda Haynes; son, Timothy Haynes and wife Phyllis; stepson, David Hill and wife Beverly, and children, Chance Hill and Blake Hill; brother, Joseph Haynes; three nieces; four nephews; six step grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 Saturday, October 10, 2026, in the High Point chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations with Rev. Mitchel Hayworth officiating.
Burial will follow at the Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 10:00-10:45AM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made be directed to Baptist on Mission c/o Greenwood Baptist Church; 1010 Lexington Ave., Thomasville, NC 27360.
