Robert (Bob) Bryson Picklesimer

Robert Bryson Picklesimer, formerly Robert O’Kelley, went to be with his heavenly family on August 28, 2020 in High Point, NC after a short battle with mesothelioma.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family has chosen to have a private celebration of life ceremony.

Bob, or Bobby as he was known to family, was born May 5, 1942 in Asheville, NC. After high school graduation in Sylva, NC, he served in the Air Force and was stationed for a short time in Germany. He then attended Southwestern Community College where he attained a degree as a draftsman. He spent his career working with hydraulic machinery, developing designs and assisting with installations. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who referred to him as Pop Pop. He also enjoyed camping and RVing, hiking the Appalachian Trail, bowling and traveling to Alaska, the western US states and Florida beaches.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Sadie Picklesimer and John O’Kelley, as well as his sisters Sadie Morris and Kay Ellen Picklesimer. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy, his brother Jeff, his daughter Krista Pressley and husband Clint, his daughter Alicia Elliott and husband Steve, and his grandchildren Wyatt, Carson, Rhett and Sammi, as well as the Blanton cousins, James, Becky and Marty.

The family would like to thank all who have helped during this time, especially the Hayworth Cancer Center at High Point Medical Center and Hospice of the Piedmont.
