Robert Austin Binkley, Sr., 80, of Thomasville, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Hospice Home at High Point.
Born April 15, 1945, in Thomasville, he was the son of the late John William Binkley, Sr., and the late Arthalene Lambeth Binkley. He graduated from Thomasville High School and served in the United States Navy. Robert worked at various places throughout Thomasville, including City Ice and Fuel, Thomasville Fire Department, Davidson County EMS, and Thomasville Furniture. Until his retirement, he worked at different places as a security officer.
Robert grew up in Thomasville and lived there most of his life. He was a big jokester and loved to cut up. He would always ask people where they were from. He never met a stranger anywhere he went.
Surviving are four children, Sonya & (Mark) Parnell, Diana Brisson, Robbie and (Kim) Binkley, and Manius Binkley; grandchildren, Stephanie (Steve), Charles, Brett (Ashley), Travis (Samantha), Jacob (Sara), Christy, Elizabeth, Ian, Nason, Ethan, and Dylan; and great grandchildren, Shane, Lela, Jaxon, and Braxton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John (Johnny) Binkley, Jr., and infant grandson, Brian Austin Dickerson.
