Rita Faye Hudspeth Welborn has gone to live with her Savior Jesus Christ in her eternal heavenly mansion after a courageous 12 year battle with cancer. She was immensely loved and she will be greatly missed.
Born May 19, 1958 to Roy Cletus and Esther Pardue Hudspeth in High Point NC.
Rita attended Trinity High School. She met her husband Jeffrey Welborn in 1981 and they married on July 4, 1983, enjoying 45 years together. Rita had many great ventures in life, helping her husband own and operate their grading and excavation business, Welborn Tractor & Hauling LLC., they founded together in 1996; traveling and working with NASCAR. But the most rewarding and enjoyable aspect of her life was being blessed to be a stay at home Mom while raising her sons and taking care of their home and supporting her husband with every ounce of energy she had while at the same time operating a home child care.
Rita was a great influence and blessing to children and she excelled at each of her roles throughout her life. Rita was the absolute happiest when she spent her time and her love with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed teaching them about Jesus and how to pray while feeding them at her table and playing, "The Nana Monster", chasing her hysterically screaming grandchildren until she caught them and relentlessly tickled them silly and so did her grandchildren and anyone else who was blessed to witness the playful interaction.
Preceding her in death was her father, Roy Cletus Hudspeth, her mother, Esther Pardue Hilton, and her oldest sister, Helen Rich.
Rita leaves behind her husband Jeffrey (Jeff) Welborn of the home, two sons, Brandon Johnson, and Jonathan (Holly) Welborn, and five grandchildren; Katie and Kaylee Johnson, and Lucas, Brennen, and Willow Welborn, brothers; Odell (Margie), David, and Edward (Diane) and sisters; Linda (Austin) Baird, Donna (Mike) Compton.
The family will greet friends at Wright Funeral Home and Cremations of High Point on Westchester Dr. from 4:00pm-5:30pm on Sunday July 12, 2026.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home on Monday July 13, 2026 at 11:00am.
Burial will be at Guilford Memorial Park in Guilford County, NC, following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, a gofundme has been set up to help cover funeral expenses.
