Rita Geraldine Tucker Lockhart, 78, of Boonville, passed away Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Mountain Valley Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.
Born November 14, 1947, in Sanford, NC, she was a daughter to the late Virgil Tucker and the late Maxine Atkins Tucker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Lockhart; sons, Michael Lockhart and Stevie Lockhart; granddaughter, Caroline Kearns; her brother, Leyton “Buddy” Tucker; and her sister-in-law, Katherine Tucker.
Rita was a loving mother and grandmother, truly loved to be around her family. She put Jesus first in her life, serving him faithfully in church. She was devoted to her church family at Pineland Full Gospel Church in Greensboro. Rita and her husband, Marvin, traveled the country together, driving long hauls in a big rig truck.
Left to cherish her memory; daughters, Angie Stone and husband David of Kernersville, Stephanie Lockhart of Boonville, Mary Kearns and husband Tim of Wallburg, and Kim Lockhart and companion, David Callaway of Lenoir; brothers Waylon Tucker of High Point, and Randy Tucker of Austin, TX; sister Kathy Montgomery and husband Ricky, Germanton; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be 10:00AM Saturday, July 18, 2026, in the High Point chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations, with Pastor Jess Lambert and Pastor Darrell Greene officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
