Rita Dana Cecil Bullins

Rita Dana Cecil Bullins, 68, of Thomasville, passed away June 25, after a long and courageous battle with diabetes. Born to the late Charles Delbert Cecil and Adrene Rickard Cecil, Dana was a 1971 graduate of High Point Central High School. She went on to study at The Massey School of Business in Atlanta and the Art Institute of Atlanta before returning to the Piedmont.

Like most of her family, Dana was artistically gifted. Whether it was through her work as a successful cosmetologist in the High Point/Thomasville area or through her many creative pursuits, she always looked for ways to share her God-given talents with others. Counted among these were customers, family and a wonderful circle of friends, many of whom reached out to provide care and solace to Dana during her illness.

Even though the last few years were challenging, Dana always had a smile on her face and a joke to share. She brought joy to so many, yet no one brought Dana more happiness than her beloved son Tyler. She focused her energy on his well-being and worked tirelessly to ensure his happiness. She did an amazing job. Dana will be forever remembered as a woman who was beautiful both inside and out – a loving sister and aunt, a loyal friend and an incredible mother.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July, 9 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations, located at 1720 Westchester Drive in High Point. The Reverend C.W. Moss is officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the home of Curtis and Amy Cecil following the service.

In addition to her parents, Dana was preceded in death by her long-time partner, Robert Crouch. Dana is survived by her son, Andrew Tyler Bullins; her brothers, Charles Randall Cecil (Cindy) of High Point and Curtis Lee Cecil (Amy) of Thomasville; nephew, Charles Randall "Chip" Cecil Jr. of High Point; niece, Camryn Leigh Cecil of Memphis Tennessee; and a special cousin, Fonda Rickard Thorne (Bill) of High Point.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point is in charge of arrangements.
