Richard “Dick” Dale Frith, 81, of High Point, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Hospice Home of High Point.
He was born August 17, 1943, in High Point, North Carolina, to the late Rudolph Clifford Frith and Azzlea Corn Frith.
Dick attended High Point City Schools, US Army Dependent Schools in France, graduated from High Point Central High School in 1961, and later attended Chowan University. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War before going to work for the Norton Company in 1968. He worked for Norton and St. Gobain for 37 years with numerous executive promotions and awards in sales.
He married Sarah Byrd on October 3, 1964, and they recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Along with his wife, family was the love of his life, especially their memorable trips together.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Angela Frith, and her husband Charlie Sink; granddaughter, Aislinn Ongoro, and husband Edmond; and grandson, Paxton Frith.
One of Dick’s most vivid memories was living in France in the 1950s while his father was stationed there with the US Army. His family lived in a chateau on a vineyard with the Blanchard family, who continue to be friends to this day.
Dick was passionate about golf, sports, cars, and technology. In 1983, he was awarded the NC Governor’s Volunteer Award for implementing the first computer system at Hasty Elementary School when he served as president of the Parent-Teacher Association. He also enjoyed volunteering with the High Point Community Theatre in the 1980s and 1990s and served as an assistant men’s golf coach at High Point University in the early 2000s.
Dick will be remembered for his words at the end of every message to the grandchildren: “Love. Be Safe. Be Wise.”
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in the Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point Chapel with Chaplain Dave Howard officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
Entombment will be private in the Floral Garden Memorial Park Mausoleum.
