Richard Eric Brooks

Richard Eric Brooks, 79, of Lewisville, passed away on November 3, 2019 in High Point, NC.

Richard was born in Forsyth County, NC to Forrest and Helen Brooks on June 11, 1940. He married Bettie Whitman and recently celebrated 33 wonderful years of marriage.  He graduated from Forsyth Technical College where he earned his associate degree. He worked as an electrician and was a 50-year member of the IBEW Local Union 342.

Richard is preceded in death by his mother Helen Lipe Brooks, his father Forrest Bronson Brooks, his brothers Kenneth Brooks and Douglas Brooks, his sisters Gloria Guthrie, Dot Linville, JoAnne Holston, and Barbara Nance.

Richard is survived by his wife Bettie Brooks of Lewisville, his sons Richard E. Brooks II wife Shelly of High Point and Michael R. Brooks of Winston Salem, his daughters Lisa M. McGown husband Greg of High Point and Tracy Nelson of High Point, his step daughter Debbie Soloman, step son Eddie Hayes, his grandchildren Preston, Terrah, Anna, Tiffany, Alyssa, Kayla, and Scott, mother of children Ann Brooks Watts. Richard is also survived by his 11 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his precious little dog Ginger.

The visitation will be at held at 1pm Saturday, Nov. 9th, followed by the service at 2 p.m. at Free Church of High Point located at 3021 N. Main Street Suite 101, High Point, NC 27265.
