John Ray Wagner, 92, of High Point, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024, at Hospice Home at High Point.
Born February 20, 1931, in Guilford County, he was a son of the late John Evertt Wagner and the late Myrtle Simpson Wagner. Ray was a US Air Force veteran and had a successful sixty-year career in the furniture industry. During his career, he held several positions, most notably as owner of Furniture Junction and Wagner-Byrd Furniture. Ray was a loving husband, father, avid gardener and chipmunk and bird watcher. He was a charitable man who supported many children’s organization including Victory Junction. Ray was a giving person who considered many friends as family.
He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Janet Felts Wagner of the home; sons, Keith Wagner of Greensboro, Brett Wagner of Archdale, Terry Wagner and wife Vickie of Colfax, and Charles Hooven of Trinity; daughters, Dee Gibbs and husband Don of High Point, and Beverly Pekkala and husband John of Trinity; brothers, Wayne Wagner and wife Joyce of High Point, and Herschell Wagner and wife Sandy of Greensboro; son-in-law, Mike Morrison of Clemmons; twenty grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roland Wagner, and stepchildren, Vivian Morrison and Christopher Hooven.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 17, 2024, in the High Point Chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations with Rev. Tanny Wright officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
