Peggy Knight Welch, 86, of High Point, peacefully passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020, at her home following a brief illness.
Peggy graduated from Jamestown High School and worked at Carolina Container Company where she retired with over 30 years of service. Once retired, Peggy volunteered over 6100 hours with High Point Regional Hospital and routinely at a local food pantry. When Peggy was not serving others, you could find her enjoying the piano, sitting outside with her constant companion, Sasha, and bird watching.
Peggy was known as a strong but quiet, private, and modest woman who believed in and loved the Lord. She read her Bible daily and prayed fervently for her family’s safety and well-being. She always put her family first by sacrificing her own needs from an early age.
Born February 21, 1934, in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Hussey Knight and the late Mallie Posey Knight.
Mrs. Welch is survived by her husband, Roger Welch of the home; son, James Victor Welch of Asheboro; daughter, Traci Knight of High Point and her grandson, Christopher Knight and his wife Samantha of Cary, and a large extended family that she loved dearly. Special friends: Celia Dunning, June Wilcox, and Janet Winslow.
She was preceded in death by: Waymouth “Wayne” Knight, brother; Edward H Knight, Jr, brother; Elizabeth “Libby” Knight, sister; and Bruce Knight, nephew.
At her request there will be no funeral or visitation at this time due to the prevalence of Covid-19. However, her family is compiling a memorial book and would like your participation in the preparation. This could include pictures, special memories, stories, or messages for the family. You may share these online at www.wrightfs.com or contact Traci at tknight720@gmail.com for further information.
