Paul Edward Floyd, Sr., 97, of Oak Ridge, NC passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the Hospice Home at High Point. He was born in Winnsboro, SC on June 10, 1928 to the late Darby Griffin Floyd and the late Marie Floyd Ferree.

Paul was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Harris Floyd, his son, Paul Edward Floyd, Jr., two sisters and two brothers.

Paul is survived by his son Joe Floyd (Gina) of Oak Ridge, NC, his daughter, Sarah Allen (John) of Kernersville, NC, and his sister, Betty White of Raleigh, NC.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Stephanie Russell (Mark), Mike Allen (Catherine), Jessie Allen, Paul Edward Floyd, III (Leslie – deceased), Chad Floyd (Nathalie) and Laura Morris (Jared).

In addition, he is survived by 10 great-grandchildren: Madison, Austyn and Cainen Russell, Riley Allen, Kaden Floyd, Ezra, Hazel and Silas Floyd, Brynleigh Mae and Mackston Morris.

Paul served in both the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marines before attending UNC-Chapel Hill. He was employed by North Carolina National Bank for 30 years. Most of his career with NCNB was spent working in the High Point and Winston-Salem offices. He retired from NCNB in Wilmington, NC as a Vice-President of NCNB Mortgage.

After retirement from NCNB, he and Ruby resided at Ocean Isle Beach, NC where he began his second career in Real Estate with Benton & Floyd Realty. He also owned Floyd & Associates Appraisals.

In 1998, Paul and Ruby moved to Oak Ridge to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Over the years, they were blessed with the addition of 10 great-grandchildren. Paul’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family, sharing stories of his life and adventures, and flounder fishing at the beach.

At age 95, Paul moved into Assisted Living and left the home that he and Ruby had shared for many years.

The family would like to thank the staff of Westchester Harbour Assisted Living in High Point for their excellent care during Paul’s time with them. He truly felt like he was among family and friends, and he considered Westchester Harbour to be his home.

The family would also like to extend their sincerest thanks to Hospice Home at High Point for the care and compassion given to Paul in his last days.

A private family service will be held at Floral Garden Park Cemetery at a later date. 

Memorial contributions in Paul’s memory can be directed to Hospice Home at High Point or to the Salvation Army.
