Patrick Wayne Campbell

Patrick Wayne Campbell, 61, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte.

Pat was born in High Point on August 25, 1959, to Earl W. Campbell and Bobbi Cecil Campbell. He is survived by his mother Bobbi, of High Point and his sister Cindy of Charlotte; he is also survived by much loved Aunts (Joyce Cecil and Lucille Campbell), Uncles (Larry Cecil, Dan Cecil), cousins (Larry, David, Alan, Steven & Teresa Campbell; Lisa & Dean Campbell; Mark Cecil and Laura Cecil Rizos; Joy Cecil Mercantel & Jill Cecil). He was predeceased by Loving Aunts (Marty, Medie, Sarah) and Uncles (Wallace, Harland, Ed). Pat was the grandson of Jim Cecil & Elizabeth McLeod Cecil. His paternal grandparents were Dewey & Nana Campbell.

Pat graduated from High Point Andrews, class of ’77, and was a member of the 1976 State 4-A Championship Football team. He was a former triathlete, loved sports, and continued swimming & biking until late last year. Pat formed lifelong friendships during each phase of his life…high school, college (Appalachian), North Myrtle Beach (lifeguard). And in the 1980’s he began his life’s work of ministry with Teen Challenge at Myrtle Beach. Pat moved to Charlotte in the ‘90s; he became active in church youth ministries. A guitarist and a drummer, music was essential to his worship role. Later in life, Pat graduated from Southern Evangelical Seminary. For more than two decades Pat was a member of a Messianic Jewish Congregation, Hope of Israel. He loved his church, worked with their youth programs and their music team, taught bible study, helped plan and participated in celebrations & outreach, and on occasion delivered God’s word to the congregation during their Sabbath services. From summer of 2017-summer of 2019 Pat lived in Israel, working in media & graphic arts for ‘Christian Friends of Israel’(CFI). He returned to Charlotte about a year ago.

Pat died fighting Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Our family extends gratitude to all who called Pat ‘friend’ during his lifetime. He loved you. Please know he spoke of you more often than you would imagine. He prayed for us all. His sweet smiling face will be so missed.

Memorials can be made to Hope of Israel, whose congregation lovingly carried Pat in their arms for so many years, and who comforted him with their prayers and presence to the very end of his life on this earth.

A private graveside will be held at Floral Garden Park.

A public memorial service will be held at 5:30 PM Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Hope of Israel Congregation, 11630 Elm Ln., Charlotte, NC 28277.
