George Patrick Baxley, Our Precious Son, Father, Brother, and Nephew died March 17, 2016 at his home in High Point, NC. He had experienced declining health for the year prior to his death.

Born October 25, 1962 Patrick was the son of Thomas Baxley, Sr. (Deceased) and Judy Green of Thomasville NC. Patrick is survived by his three children, Zachary, Sam and Aislyn; 4 brothers, Sid, Jonathan, Neal and Tim; and his Uncle, George (Buddy) Green; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Patrick’s ex-wives Patricia and Suzannah, remained amongst his closest friends. His sons are local residents, Aislyn and her mother Keri, reside in Charleston, SC.

Patrick attended local schools where, at High Point Central, he was a championship football player and wrestler.  He long worked in the furniture industry with his friend, Donald Ross, but chose to pursue a music career. He learned that music from his Uncle Buddy, a musician himself, who was his mentor and teacher.

Long known on the area music scene as an accomplished guitarist and performer he was a member of several bands, Groove Thing being one. His moniker in the later years was Acoustic Cornbread. He recorded and performed under that name. He taught both his sons to play music on his beloved guitar, Lucky, so named along with the shamrock tattooed on his arm.  Aislyn, however, being too young yet to play, enjoys inheriting her Dad’s curly hair.

Recognized on area streets, riding his Harley and wearing his distinctive “skid Lid” helmet he formed countless friendships with other local riders.

A Celebration of Patrick’s life will be held at Southern Sister’s Restaurant on Main St. In Thomasville from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday March 22, 2016 in the Loft Area.

Patrick will be remembered for his leather vests, his quick wit, easy smile and love of family, friends and his God.

The family requests, for anyone who chooses, donations be made to the Guilford County ASPCA in lieu of flowers.
