Patricia (Pat) Lois Arend Briggs went home to her heavenly Father and her beloved husband Bob on January 20, 2021.
Pat was born March 7, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to Gertrude Seng Arend and Frederick Arend. She grew up in Ohio, having spent several years at the Masonic Home in Springfield before being reunited with her father in Columbus. Pat graduated from North High School, and was always a Proud Polar Bear! She met the love of her life, Bob Briggs in high school. They were wed on July 6, 1946 and celebrated 60+ years together. Pat and Bob were members of Maineville UMC until they became Lay Pastors for the United Methodist Church and served the Cozadale UMC. They were both deeply devoted to Jesus Christ.
Pat was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and most of all, a Christian who was deeply loved and will be remembered for her kindnesses far beyond her years.
Pat was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeye fan, and could be heard by family and neighbors on most fall Saturdays coaching the team, and calling for players to “Straighten Up!” She was also an avid fisherman and dog lover.
Pat and Bob raised their 3 sons in Worthington, Ohio, where she loved living in Colonial Hills. They moved to Maineville, a community near Cincinnati, in 1975. She relocated to High Point, NC, to be near the North Carolina family and lived at The Almost Home Group in Thomasville, NC For 4 years.
Pat is survived by her three sons; Robert A. and wife Nancy of Amelia, OH, John F. and wife Pamela of Fayetteville, NC and David S. and wife Elizabeth of High Point, NC. She is lovingly remembered by her 8 grandchildren as their generous and loving Grandma Briggs, and by her nieces and nephews as Aunt Pat. She was preceded in death by her three sisters; Hertha Minard, Edna Ruark and Evelyn Cramer, as well as by grandson Stephen Briggs and great-grandson Reid Seals.
Memorial donations in honor of Pat Briggs may be directed to The Almost Home Group, Inc., 904 Kenreed Drive, Thomasville, NC 27360.
A memorial service in her honor will take place at a later date.
