Pastor David Andrew Annan
High Point
David Andrew Annan of High Point, NC, age 62, was welcomed to his heavenly home on March 9, 2018, after a valiant battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him throughout his entire life, and gave him peace during his four-year journey with cancer. Dave was born to the late Andrew Henry Annan and Claire Virginia Annan Summers in Philadelphia, PA on January 29, 1956. He graduated from Bob Jones University in 1978 with a degree in Bible, and served faithfully in the church for 40 years as a youth pastor, assistant pastor, senior pastor, and ultimately children’s pastor. He ministered in 4 churches: Calvary Bible Church (Centre Hall, PA), West Hill Baptist Church (Akron, OH), Clemmons Moravian Church (Clemmons, NC) and Community Bible Church (High Point, NC). He also served on the mission fields of Ghana, Peru, Jamaica, Guatemala and Japan, and co-founded Energize Ministries, an organization that supports and encourages those in the ministry. Dave was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia Ruth Parr, on June 30, 1978. Their love story started when they met in Israel, even though they lived just down the street from each other in Bensalem, PA. David helped raise his seven children with patience, compassion, humility, godliness, forgiveness and a sense of humor. From the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of Jesus, the truth of salvation, the promises in the Bible and the eternal life we, as Christians, will experience in Heaven. Dave was a servant of God, and was able to connect with all types of people on different walks of life at a deep level by sharing his own experiences, whether struggles or blessings, and would speak Biblical truth in a loving way. Even through his cancer and the pain that came along with it, his number one focus was to encourage others with his testimony so that they, too, could have the courage to face and fight their “Goliath” in life. In his dying days, his prayer for his family was that they would see God through their grieving. Dave is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his children Krista Annan, Melissa & Josh Young, Becca & Pete Lloyd, Jessica & Jordan Delay, Katrina Annan, Joshua Annan & Nicole Spring and Larissa & Dylan Gibson; his grandchildren Tyler Annan, Kylie Young, Oli Annan-Spring, Emmerson & Davicyn Delay and Breelyn Gibson; his brother, Mark Annan, sister, Claire Redstreake, brother-in-law, Dan Parr, sister-in-law, Deborah Zane, and their spouses; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Christa #1 and his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Energize Ministries (www.energizeministries.com/get-involved/support-energize/).
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:30 PM Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Community Bible Church.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Tuesday, prior to the service at the church.
Dave won his last and ultimate battle with his Goliath, and is now rejoicing in Heaven with Jesus.
Wright Cremation & Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
