Pamela Lee (Pennington) Roberts

Pamela Pennington Roberts “Pam” (Munoz), age 81 of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away July 12, 2024. She fought a courageous 20-year battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was a graduate of Ruskin High School (Kansas City) in 1961, and went on to receive her BA from the University of Missouri in 1965. Pam was an active member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. It was at the University of Missouri where Pam met and married her Kappa Alpha sweetheart Juan Martin Munoz.

Pam was an accomplished artist and musician. She loved to sing and play the piano. She was the president of the Glee Club in high school, a member of the choir in college, started a barber shop quartet during her time in Belgium, and for decades sang in the choir at Greensboro’s St Francis Episcopal church. It was at St. Francis where she met many of her dearest friends. Pam was an extremely accomplished seamstress, quilter, painter, and later in life found bead work. Her quilts were exhibited in several regional shows as were her painted floor cloths.

Pam loved Doberman Pinschers, gardening, cooking, and adventuring. As a young wife in her 20’s she lived in Germany and Belgium, and traveled extensively throughout Europe. She learned to sail when she was 50 and sailed from her home in Beaufort, N.C. to the Bahamas. Pam’s professional life was varied and industrious. She made significant contributions in multiple fields as a college librarian, at the Social Security Administration, as a tax accountant, real estate agent, appraiser, and in medical clinical trials at UNC and UVA. Her versatility and aptitude were evident in every role she undertook.

Pam is survived by her former husband, Juan Munoz, two daughters Kristin Munoz Shorb (Christopher) and Heather Munoz Bland (Eric), her siblings Rick Pennington and Debbie Adams, and her four grandchildren Jennifer Nicole Shorb, Benjamin Welman Shorb, Brockman Lewis Bland, and Wyatt Martin Bland. Pam's remarkable journey and the indelible mark she left will be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pam's memory to Pennybyrn Healthcare Households at 1315 Greensboro Road, High Point, NC, 27260. Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point is in charge of arrangements.
