Olive Lehmer Garrett Frye, 99, passed away, Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Thomasville Medical Center.
She was born October 16, 1924, in Omaha, NE to the late Theodore John Lehmer and the late Zilpha Riggs Lehmer.
Mrs. Frye received her Bachelor's degree from University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was a preschool teacher at the "Through the Week School" at Wesley Memorial for 25 years. A devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Cooking, sewing and enjoying her friends at her home at Piedmont Crossing, were the highlights of her days. Mrs. Frye loved music, singing in the choir and playing the piano and violin at her beloved church, Wesley Memorial Methodist Church.
Left to cherish her memory; son, David Garrett and wife Linda of Wilmington; daughter, Marcia Dills and husband William of Thomasville; grandchildren, Julia Dills and Thomas Dills and wife Evelyn; sister, Margaret Elliott of Las Altos, CA; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Garrett; and several numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband, Frank Garrett in 1995, second husband, Gaither Frye in 2004; son, Richard Garrett in 2024; and her sisters, Louise Melson and Marcia Martig.
Funeral service will be 2:00PM, Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in the Chapel of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the Asbury Room.
Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
