Nancy Wray White, 93, of High Point, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2020, at her home.
Mrs. White was born October 15, 1927, in Rockingham County, a daughter of the late Richard Henry Wray and the late Susie Lindsey Wray. She married the love her life John G. White, and they were married for 65 years before his death. Nancy was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and was also a founding member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. Nancy was a retired owner and travel agent for Lucas Travel, and enjoyed her own extensive travels around the globe often accompanied by groups of family and friends. She was highly active in her community, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, High Point Junior League, and the High Point Hungry Supper Club. Nancy was also a member of the High Point Study Club. She was an avid tennis player with the “Ninny Netters” through the years she eventually took up golf. One of Nancy’s favorite past times was playing a good bridge game with friends, or a game of gin with her family. She will be remembered as a charming sweet southern lady, with an infectious smile and sense of humor. Nancy never met a stranger, loved to laugh with others, and was adored by many.
Surviving to cherish her memory are sons, John G. White, Jr. (Myra), Richard W. White (Kennetha), Robert L. White (Judy); grandchildren, Kelly W. Wirt (Todd), Erin A. White, Seth L. White, Ross G. White, Corniece W. White; great-grandchildren, Mary Moss, John G. Wirt; brother, Dr. Richard H. Wray (Carol); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 5, 2020, in the chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the family requests that all friends please wear face coverings during the visitation, and the service.
A private inurnment will be held at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to the following organizations, Hospice of the Piedmont, Victory Junction Gang, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital
