Margaret Eleanor Paul 84, of Thomasville passed away Thursday, November 10th , 2022 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Born May 16th, 1938 in Hoke County, she was the daughter of the late Colon William and Sallie McGhee Paul.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Mimi) Wright and husband Robert of Asheboro; grandson William Paul Wright, sister Barbara Paul Dixon of High Point. And Brother-in-law Don Baker of Thomasville. Along with many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers James Jackson, Ray Paul, and Colon “Buddy” Paul. And her sisters Myrtle Peeler, Shirley Cassidy, Hellen Paul and Ann Baker. Margaret, known as Maggie by many that loved her grew up in the Sandhills of NC, an area that she loved and missed till her last day. Moving to High Point in the late 1950s she worked in the textile industry and then the furniture industry until she retired.
She was an avid gardener all of her life and grew vegetables and flowers. It brought her great pleasure to watch anything grow. She loved to can and freeze as much produce as possible. And one of her favorite things was to share vegetables from her garden with her with friends and family. She enjoyed her frequent trips to Candor and Ellerbe to visit her cousins and always came home with tomatoes, beans and corn that they so graciously shared with her – everything grown there “just tasted better” she said.
She was known for being a great cook, and loved to cook big southern meals for her family and friends. Watching people enjoy her cooking made her very happy. And compliments on her cooking made her even happier. In addition to gardening and cooking, she loved to drink coffee and read books, thrillers and westerns were her favorite. It’s impossible to think about her and not think of coffee at the same time.
Maggie was a lover of dogs and had 3 sweet dogs throughout her life that she cherished, Foxy, Ethan and Pike preceded her in death but we know they are waiting on her and there will be many kisses and tail wagging at that reunion. She will be missed by many.
A gathering with family and friends will be planned at a later date.
Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point is in charge of arrangements.
