Lucy Andrew Mitchell, 95, of Westchester Manor, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Hospice Home at High Point.

Born July 16, 1922, in Chatham County, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Lavonia Willett Andrew.  Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Bonlee High School, and prior to becoming a full-time homemaker, she was employed in the hosiery industry.  On June 22, 1950, she married Walter Mitchell who preceded her in death in 2004.  For many years she was a faithful member of Brentwood Baptist Church where she cherished the friendships of the Philathea Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart Senior Adults.  She later attended Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church.  Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and spending time with her family.  She was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam DeLappe and husband Ricky of High Point; granddaughter, Ashley DeLappe Beavers and husband Wade of Wake Forest, grandson, Kyle DeLappe and wife Blair of Columbia, SC.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 30, 2018, at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Hollar officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service in the church parlor.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the many caregivers at Westchester Manor who provided loving care and support over the years, and the Hospice of the Piedmont for their compassion and support.
