Louise Ann Pruett

Louise Pruett, 83, of Kernersville, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winson Salem.

Louise was born on October 4, 1942, in Corning, New York to the late Clayton Schoonover and Gertrude Blencowe Schoonover. Louise grew up in upstate New York. She graduated from Corning Free Academy High School in Corning, New York and from Thompkins County Community College with a degree in Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, Louise’s desire to show compassion and care to others was evident in all that she did. She worked in many areas of nursing and health care. Outside of work, she cared for her family and was involved in her church as a member of the church choir, a Sunday school teacher and a volunteer for many church events and outreaches. Being a part of and involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was very important to her and she cherished every minute of her time spent with them. Louise also loved her cats as part of her family. She loved traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains and enjoyed most the vistas of the Shanandoah Valley.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her former husband, Winfred “Fred” Harold Grant.

Left to cherish the memory of Louise are her daughters, Tina Kidd and husband, David, Malynda Hofeling and husband, Scott, Leona Hake and husband, Richard, and Connie Grant Britton; grandchildren, Jonathan Hake, Christine Hake, John “Berry” Hofeling and wife Tiffany, Andrea Parris, Timothy Hofeling and wife Annabeth, Amanda Kidd, Brandy Kidd, Moria Grant and Becky Grant; great grandchildren, Trenton, Brendon, Alyssa, hunter, Myriam, John, Tabitha, Reagan, Jacob, Brooks and Jace.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 3:00PM at Samaritan Baptist Church, 4800 Reid Rd., Winston Salem NC with Rev. Danny Smith officiating.
