Lori Swaim Pesqueira

Lori Swaim Pesqueira, 58, passed away peacefully at her home, with her husband and daughter

by her side, on March 16, 2025. Lori was born on October 31, 1966, in High Point, NC, to her

loving parents, Larry and Sherry Swaim. She graduated in 1985 from Southwest Guilford High

School, where she was an amazing athlete, playing basketball, softball, and track. Lori was a

part of the 1985 women’s basketball team that won the NCHSAA State Championship for two

years in a row. She worked at Gilbarco Veeder-Root for 20 years, making a lasting impression

on anyone she met.

She is survived by her parents, Larry and Sherry Swaim, who cherished her dearly; her

husband, Miguel Pesqueira, whom she said was and always will be the man of her dreams; and also gave

her a wonderful stepdaughter, Paulina Pesqueira. The true light of Lori’s life was her daughter, Taylor

Knopes (married to Zach Knopes), and her adored grandson, Miller. She shared a close bond

with her brother, Brian Swaim (married to Amy Swaim), and was a proud aunt to Griffin Swaim.

Lori’s faith in God was strong, unwavering, and at the center of who she was. Friends and family

consistently turned to Lori, always knowing they could count on her to pray for them. Lori was

larger than life, embracing everyone with her warm and vibrant smile. She was always laughing,

dancing, making others feel welcome and loved, and was always ready with a hug. She found

peace in her backyard “paradise,” enjoying bonfires, cookouts, and listening to yacht rock and

country music.  Lori will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Her Celebration of Life will be held on March 29th at 11 a.m. at Wright’s Funeral Home in High Point.

The family will visit with friends following the service.
