Lois Ann (Hart) Carnahan
Born: November 14, 1926, in Hornell, NY
Died: January 1, 2025, in Thomasville, NC
Lois Ann was the daughter of Harold and Irene Henry Hart of N. Hornell, NY.
She graduated from Hornell High School in 1944 and Syracuse University in 1948 with a degree in Home Economics. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority as an undergrad and as an alumnus of the Alpha Chapter at SU. In 1949 she married Donald Stuart Carnahan from Syracuse, NY where they raised their two daughters, Susan and Sally.
Lois was a loving and devoted mother to her girls and served as a leader in their Girl Scout troops, homeroom mother, and church activities. Lois briefly worked as a buyer for Howes Jewelry Store and Dunk & Bright Furniture Store. Upon retirement in 1984, they moved to the Spanish Lakes Community in Ft. Pierce, FL where Lois participated in church activities, volunteer work and traveling with her husband. She always enjoyed entertaining and was an accomplished cook. A year after her husband’s death in 2011, Lois moved to Piedmont Crossings in Thomasville, NC where she lived until her death. She was an active member of the PEO Sisterhood since 1961: Chapter AP, Syracuse NY, Chapter GM, Vero Beach FL, and Chapter AO, High Point, NC.
She is survived by her daughters: Susan Carnahan Jackson and husband Tom and Sally Carnahan Clauss and husband Joe. She was grandmother to Scott (Nicole) Jackson and Jill (Christopher) Bennett and Ben (Amy) Clauss, Kevin (Shelley) Clauss and Molly (Joe) LoPresti and was a great grandmother to Annabel, Thomas, and Will Jackson, Henry and Nicholas Bennett, Noah and Emmie Clauss, and Sky LoPresti She is also survived by her brother, John (Lyn) Hart, nieces Elizabeth (Trudy) Hart, Carol Birdseye McNeill, and nephews Bret (Tina) Hart, and Donald Birdseye.
There will be a Celebration of Lois’s Life at Piedmont Crossings Unity Place, 100 Hedrick Dr., Thomasville at 2 pm on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point is in charge of arrangements.
