Lee Williams

Virginia Lee Williams, 79, of Asheboro, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the Meridian Center.

Born December 16, 1942, in Phenix City, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Archie Elisha Akin and the late Virginia Lee Lewis Akin. Lee was an amazing woman!  Born with severe bronchial asthma, she was not expected to live through her teen years, but by the grace of God, she survived, thrived, and made a difference in the lives of all she encountered.

Lee was devoted to her parents, her four children, and their families.  She earned an LPN degree and worked in both a doctor’s office and Florida Hospital.  She owned and operated a florist shop, and later managed another.  Her favorite venture was her art, painting primarily in watercolor, portraits, florals, and landscapes.  She was a member of both Brevard (FL) and Southern Watercolor Societies, winning awards and acclaim in various shows, and receiving commissions for special orders.  Lee was anointed by God in her art.  She also was named Volunteer of the Year for her service in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Charlotte.

Most important to Lee was her faith in Jesus Christ and her love for God the Father. She exemplified the love of God to everyone she met, and because of her witness, many will be with her in heaven.

She is survived by her children, Kat and Bryan Bulla, Susan and Jimmy Ferguson, Beth and Joe Roehrick, and Erik and Kristine Williams; grandchildren, Laura Warrenfeltz, Brody and MacKenzie Williams, Logan Williams, and Chloe Williams; great-grandchild, Carson Warrenfeltz; and extended family, Dr. Rhett Brown and Carl Brinson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Louis and Hattie Akin; and Olen and Juanita Lewis.

Lee’s family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Genesis Meridian Homestead Unit for their compassionate care of our dear Mimi in the last months of her life. We love you for loving her.
