Henry Lee Briles

Jamestown

Henry Lee Briles, 92, of Jamestown, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Born January 17, 1926, in Randolph County, he was a son of the late Russell Briles and the late Zola Summey Briles. Lee was a US Army veteran serving in WWII and worked in area furniture factories until his retirement. Lee loved his Covenant Church United Methodist Family. He traveled and served on twenty-seven mission trips to areas throughout the south, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Panama, and Alaska. He said he thought he was doing something for the Lord, but that the Lord was actually doing something for him. Lee volunteered at High Point Regional Hospital for twelve years, discharging patients, and driving the golf cart for the pathology department. He enjoyed ballroom and line dancing, deer hunting, golfing with his friends, and working on his rental property. His health began to fail around Christmas, but he pushed on and dressed as Santa for his tenants.

Lee is survived by his daughter, Bobbi Briles Watkins and husband Tim of Jamestown; sister, Rusaline Cassidy; niece, Pam Cassidy Marshburn and husband Jamey; nephews, David Briles and wife Carolyn, Joe Briles and wife Patty, and Jon Briles; and dog, Lacy.ee

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth “Rusty” Briles, sister, Imogene; and brother, Marion.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 24, 2018, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Floral Garden Park.
