Laura Joyce McFalls

Laura McFalls, 84, of High Point, NC, passed away at home on January 17, 2018.
Born April 23, 1933, in Terre Haute, Indiana, she was the daughter of George and Gertrude Joyce. She graduated from Curry High School in Greensboro and attended Women’s College (UNC-G). Known for her dedication as a community volunteer, Laura was active in the Women’s Guild of High Point Memorial Hospital, serving a term as President. She volunteered for Hospice of the Piedmont and was later on staff. At Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, she was active in the prayer shawl ministry. She was a Stephen Minister and trainer. For the past decade, every Tuesday and Wednesday, she led the Knitters Group at Hayworth Cancer Center.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Vernon McFalls of High Point; daughter, Susan Eldridge (Rick) of Salisbury; sons, George McFalls (Robin) of Colorado Springs, CO, Michael McFalls (Sandy) of Winston-Salem, and Kevin McFalls (Kay) of Lynchburg, VA; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2018. The family will receive friends in the Asbury Room immediately following the service.
