Kurt Douglas Stanley, 66, passed away on May 21, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 29, 1959. Kurt lived his life with an unwavering work ethic, a deep dedication to helping others, and a profound commitment to his loved ones. Anyone who knew him was truly better for it.
A Life of Faith and Love
Kurt was a Christian man of authentic faith who believed that quiet, internal devotion to God is private, humble, and not performative. He lived his faith daily through his actions, fiercely believing in the equality of all people and steadfastly insisting on the acceptance of differences. Nothing ever came before his family. If Kurt loved you, he loved you with all of his being.
He possessed a wonderfully quirky sense of humor and had a particular knack for coming up with groan-worthy puns that brought smiles to those around him. Outside of his family, Kurt found joy in the simple pleasures of life:
Nature & Outdoors: He loved animals, fishing, and swimming in the ocean.
Passions: He was an avid fan of football, history, and music.
Family
Kurt is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn (Hood) Stanley, and his cherished son, Daniel Theodore Hood Stanley. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Delores "Dee Dee" (Stanley) Smoot and Sherri (Stanley) Klinefelter as well as his treasured nieces, nephews, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Stanley; his father, Raymon Earl Stanley; his older brother, Raymon Earl Stanley, Jr.; and his beloved twin brother, Keith David Stanley, with whom he is now peacefully reunited.
There will be a small Celebration of Life for family later in June. Please do not send flowers. If you want to do something that Kurt would have found meaningful, please make a donation in his name to the Hospice of the Piedmont or the High Point Police Department.
Wright Funerals-Cremations, Archdale is in charge of arrangements.
