Kenneth Ray Taylor, 77, of Sophia, NC, passed away peacefully at his home, on September 13, 2025.
Kenny was born January 17, 1948, in Greensboro, NC, to Roscoe Eugene Taylor and Marjorie Lee Monnett.
He attended Southeast High School in Greensboro, NC, and worked for W.M. Paris & Associates in Charlotte, NC, as a project superintendent from 1970-1995.
He was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1968 for the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged at Fort Bragg, NC, due to an extensive injury from a car accident prior to the draft. He proudly supported the military and wanted to serve his country.
Kenny married Barbara Kay Davis on May 15, 1971. They were married for 54 years, with two daughters and five grandchildren. Kenny and Kay enjoyed shag dancing together and were members of the "LA Shag Club".
Kenny was an avid golfer, enjoyed stock car racing and was a devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt.
He was a man of his word; known for his integrity, strength, dry humor, and willingness to help anyone. Kenny drew his strength from God during the trials he faced over the last 30 years.
Remaining to cherish his memory are spouse, Kay Davis Taylor; daughters, Kerstgen Kelly Bost (Jeff) and Kristal Taylor Davis (Josh); grandchildren, Nicholas Brock McCall (Katie), Kayla Mariah Honeycutt, Aspyn Reign Davis, Colton Knox Davis, and Ella Reece Davis. Great Grandchildren, Aubrey Paul and Corey Paul.
Siblings, Jeff Taylor (Julie) and June Hawks (Jerry);
Uncle, Harold Monnett (Barbara); Cousin, Lois Harding.
Preceding Kenny in death are his father, Roscoe Taylor and his mother, Marjorie Monnett Mabe.
The family will receive visitors at the home.
