Kathryn Moore Brock

Kathryn Safhon Moore Brock, 53, of Wilmington, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Born, January 26, 1969 in Alamance County she is the daughter of James Frank Moore, Jr. and the late Edith Gail McClay Moore.

Being just short of a month early, in a rush to life, Kathy was born in Burlington. Kathy was taught from an early age to always accept the challenge if someone were to tell her, "a girl cannot or should not do this." She learned early in life how to fish, fillet, and prep the fish for cooking. Kathy learned to drive a straight drive and performed maintenance herself on her first car. She was very athletic through high school, and competed in state level gymnastics and competed with the swim team, The Sharks, and she would swim as if a shark was chasing after her. Kathy attended school in Guilford County, where should would graduate and become a dental hygienist. She would go on to work for dentists in North Carolina, Washington, and California. In California, she befriended a five-star chef, who during his appointments for his scheduled teeth cleanings, he would occasionally share some of his recipes. Kathy became an amazing cook who would prepare amazing dishes. She loved the Lord and shared His love and light with all she encountered. Kathy joyfully put her career on hold when her daughter Sara was born and then a son Eric. She loved her two children dearly and kept busy learning and trying new things together. Too early in life, Kathy became stricken by a serious neurological disease that would require caregiving. She would put up a tremendously high-spirited fight for her life. Never giving up, never accepting defeat, even creating challenges for her caregivers, but the disease eventually robbed her of her life. The disease is gone now, she is at peace, but we will miss those witty responses, a soft spoken, " I love you" and that sweet smile that seemed a little but mischievous at times.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her son, Eric Brock; daughter, Sara Brock; and many special extended family members and friends.
