Karen Cecil Smith, of Thomasville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 24, 2019.

Karen was the youngest of three children born in Guilford County to Clyde and Delila Cecil. She grew up working and playing on the family farm, loving animals and all of God’s creation. After graduation from Salem College, Karen began her writing career as a magazine freelancer and later worked as a newspaper field reporter, editor, and photographer. More recently, she was a published author.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ronda Smith; and brother, Keith Cecil.

She is survived by her husband, George Smith.

Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Faith Church, 1078 Gumtree Rd., Winston-Salem, NC with Pastor Mike Gates officiating.

Mr. Smith will receive friends following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International or to the charity of choice.
