Karen Lillian Moehlenkamp, 62, of Trinity, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at her residence.
She was born August 1, 1960, in Fulton, GA. Her parents were Robert and Anna Best, who have now passed. Karen was one of six children; Chris, Melissa, Jason, Danny and Stacy. She attended Notre Dame Catholic School for girls, which always made her proud when telling people. After high school, she attended Dayton University. She bartended while attending college and later transferred to Florida State University. She loved Tampa, FL where she met Mike Moehlenkamp at a restaurant where she was working. They later married in Chagrin Falls over Labor Day at her parents’ home. Karen and Mike had a daughter, Melissa (Mel), that was Karen’s pride and joy! She loved showing Mel off to the world and enjoyed strangers complimenting her daughter. A job brought Mike opportunities that led them to move to Trinity, NC, where they resided until the day of Karen’s death. Karen loved fishing and going antique picking at estate sales. She enjoyed politics, and some would say she should have been the first woman president. In her later days, she enjoyed her grandchildren, teaching them card games, reading stories to them and them reading to her.
Karen is survived by her husband, Mike; daughter, Melissa; grandchildren, Roslynn, Riley and Raevynn; siblings, Chris, Melissa, Jason, Dan and Stacy; her good friends, Lynn Fuerst and the Newman’s.
