On the morning of August 23 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family, Judy Simmons went to be with the Lord. Judy is now at peace after her long battle of dementia.

Judy was born on September 10, 1951, in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, to Leland and Jewell Simmons.  Judy was a graduate of East Surry High School in 1969. It was there where she met the love of her life, Steve Simmons.  Judy and Steve were married two years later and had 49 years of joyful marriage.

Judy had a passion for teaching. After graduating high school, she enrolled in the Education program at High Point College. Following her teaching studies, Judy taught in the Archdale/Trinity area for the next 30 years of her career.  While having a successful career, Judy raised her three children, was an active member in her church, and was an active participant in her children’s activities especially with the Kynwood swim team.  Judy enjoyed vacations to the beach, and spending time with her family and friends at Tuckertown Lake.

Judy is survived by her husband, Steve, children, Josh Simmons (Megan), Carrie Hall and Ashley Cashatt (Zach), brother Brent Simmons (Carla), sister Donna Simmons (David), and four grandchildren, Lindsey Hall, Addy Hall, Everett Simmons, and Camden Cashatt, as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Vanessa Craven for allowing Judy to remain in her home for the duration of her journey.  Her love and devotion to Judy was an indescribable blessing to the family.

The family will receive visitors at 3-4 pm Sunday, August 25, 2019, at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church with a service immediately following. A celebration of her life cookout dinner will be held at the Mount Vernon hut following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 9931 Archdale Rd, Trinity, NC, Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point NC, or the Alzheimer’s Association of 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL.
