Judy Whitford, age 84, of High Point, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, April 23, 2025. She was born October 16, 1940, in Dearborn, Michigan, daughter to the late Kenneth Spencer Hill and Eileen Burroughs Hill.
Judy grew up near Albany Island on Lake Huron, establishing a life-long love of living on or near water, which eventually brought her to settle in Florida where she raised her children. She lived for being outdoors, fishing, NFL football, and playing with her beloved dogs (especially Karbie, Kava, and Smoochie!). Judy had an infectious laugh, was always up for fun new experiences and adventures, and loved to entertain family and friends. An incredible cook, she passed on her love for cooking to her children and grandchildren, often spending hours sharing recipes. A long-time Jimmy Buffet fan, she embraced the Parrothead lifestyle in retirement, and embarked on an adventure with her husband, Preston, to Guadalajara, Mexico, where they lived for 10 years before returning to Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Whitford; her brother Kenny Hill, and sister, JoAnn Tucker.
Judy is survived and missed by her children, Theresa Cederstrom (Gary), and Terry Phillips (Kathy); her grandchildren Erin Thuner (Chad), Katie Wilmoth (Tom), Caitlin Pope, Kristen Phillips (Sarah), and Keaton Cederstrom; and her great grandchildren, Ava Thuner, Berk Thuner, Delilah Wilmoth, Maddox Wilmoth, Charlotte Wilmoth, Alexis Kempf, and Alivia Frisby.
The family would like to express their loving gratitude to the staff of Hospice of the Piedmont for their tender care and guidance during her transition.
A private family memorial is planned at a later date.
Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point is in charge of arrangements.
