Joseph “Joe”  Steven Elmore, 67, of High Point, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Hospice Home at High Point.

Joe was born September 18, 1951 in Lake Forest, Illinois to Floyd Elmore and Elsie Buckland of Iowa.  He married Vicki on November 21, 1998 in San Clemente, CA.   Joe came to High Point, NC 18 years ago from California where he resided for 10 years.  Prior to that he had lived in Seattle, WA as well as Alaska.  He was a veteran Executive in the furniture industry  until he retired. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces and served in the Alaska Air National Guard.  Joe’s greatest joy and accomplishment was being a doting “Papa” to his grandchildren.   He was involved in raising money for Pediatric Aids Research and one of his proudest accomplishments was running the Inaugural Disney Marathon in 1994 to raise money for Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation.  He also loved coaching Little League baseball, junior football and youth soccer. He was a long time fan of Jimmy Buffet, the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco Giants.

Joseph was preceded in death by his father Floyd LaVern Elmore.

Joseph is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Vicki Elmore; mother Elsie Hampton; daughter Melissa Dawkins (Christopher) of Trinity, NC and children Henry and Willow; sons, Brock Elmore of Los Angeles, CA and Jay Elmore of Kew Gardens, NY and their mother Kristine Elmore; stepdaughter Jessica Prak (Chad) of High Point, NC and children Cheyenne and Blake; stepson Alex Prak of High Point and daughter Lily;  brothers Bill Elmore (Teresa) and Gary Elmore (Lynda); sisters Toni Smith and Bonnie Wheeles (Rod).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation, www.pedaids.org.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Guil-Rand Funeral & Cremation Service, Archdale, North Carolina.
