John Mason Glenn, Jr, 70, of Sophia, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023, at his home.
Born December 13, 1952, in Randolph County, he was a son of the late John Mason Glenn, Sr and the late Patsy Brady Glenn. John was a loving Father, Papaw, Brother, Uncle and Friend to all those that knew him. John’s family and friends will always remember him for his dedication to his family including his cats, his willingness to give the shirt off his back to anyone who needs it, his ability to know something about everything, his listening ear but also his capacity to change subjects when he just wanted to talk about himself, his hardworking mentality, his inclination to always be there no matter what and the tremendous amount of love that he had to give.
John worked for Central Carolina Heating & Air as a technician for much of his career. John was a master of all things, there was nothing he couldn’t do or fix. Heating & Air Technician by trade but an electrician, carpenter, builder, painter, machinist, pool man, lawn guy, mechanic, winemaker, gardener, etc. In his younger days he enjoyed two-stepping, riding horses and motorcycles, bass fishing at the lake, deep sea fishing, surf fishing and of course his children. As he got older, he enjoyed much of the same including spending time with his family and hanging out with his grandson, Gage. Most recently he spent time watching his greatest joy, Elizabeth Grace, grow up. He also enjoyed the simple things in life, loving on his cats, fixing his lawnmower, making wine and the perfect pound cake and going to church.
He was a member of Welch Memorial United Methodist Church and also attended Springfield Friends Meeting.
He is survived by his daughters, Jaime Glenn Foushee of Randleman and Lauren Myers (Jonathan) of High Point; brother, Jimmy Glenn (Kathy) of Sophia; grandchildren, Gage Taylor (Kelly) and Elizabeth Grace Myers; Niece, Kristy Morgan; Nephew, Drew Glenn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Glenn and sister, Tammy Drouin.
A few years ago, God gave John a second chance at life. He was a walking miracle and the answer to every prayer that was prayed for him. He got a chance to see another day, a chance to spend more time with family and friends, a chance to get to know his granddaughter, a chance live life for a little while longer and enjoy all the little things. Take chances, make the most of the time you have with those that you love. When life comes to an end all we have left of those that we love are the memories that we made with them along the way.
Though he is no longer with us on Earth, we take comfort and great peace in knowing that he is watching from Heaven. He will always be in our hearts and his spirit and memories will live on through his family and all of those that loved him. May he always send us signs to let us know that he is still here.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Welch Memorial United Methodist Church at 2405 Bellemeade St, High Point.
Pastor Tonia Reaves will be officiating.
The family will visit with friends following the service.
