John Andrew Braica

Mr. John Andrew Braica, Sr, age 94, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023 in High Point, NC. He was born on October 7,1929 in Brooklyn, NY to Sabina (Jean) Eldora and Benny Braica, Sr.

He was a US Army Veteran. John Sr. moved to High Point in 1948 upon his honorable discharge. He worked for Suburban Construction Company founded by his late brother, Benny Braica, Jr. The company designed and built showrooms at High Point’s Southern Furniture Market Center. He later formed Rite-Way Painting and Decorating Company and continued working at the Furniture Market Center throughout the 1970’s.

John Sr.’s love of fishing and water sports inspired him to open and operate Crestwood Bait and Tackle Shop for more than 25 years and worked into his 80’s. He was a member of Oakview Country Club. He was especially fond of holidays spent with family and trips to Belews Lake. A highlight of his life was the 2011 “Flight of Honor” to Washington, DC with Triad Veterans. He was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Benny Braica, Jr. and wife Mary Jo, sister, Mildred Adiutori and husband Ricky, nephew, Richard Adiutori, and former wife, Geneva Webb Cole. Survivors are sons John Braica Jr. and wife Amy, Jeff Braica and companion Leisa Enterline. His nieces, Linda Braica and Bonnie Braica White (Ed) of High Point, Sunni Braica Vitello (Greg) of Myrtle Beach, SC and nephew Ronnie Adiutori of New York. Grandchildren, Chad Braica, Morgan Braica Mackenzie(Briggs), Heather Ratley (Anthony) all of High Point, Megan Braica Latham (Jacob) of Washington, NC, and Gray Braica of Pleasant Garden, NC. He loved his three great grandsons Lucas Ratley, Bennett Latham, and Graham Mackenzie.

The family will hold a private gathering to memorialize John Braica, Sr.
