Joanna Ridge Milam

Joanna Ridge Milam, of 812 Birch Lane, Kernersville, NC, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Joanna was born June 7, 1937, in Altavista, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Milam; two daughters, Sherron Ferguson and Theodora Ferguson Barnes; mother, Burttress McIntyre Ridge; father, Earl Duke Ridge; and two brothers, Clarence Ridge and Billy Ridge.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Petty Gert; her son, Jeffrey Petty; and her step son, Jack Milam; ten grandchildren; one step grandson; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Susan Young and Nancy Ward (Carroll); one brother, Robert Ridge (Nancy); and many nieces and nephews.

She spent 50+ years in cosmetology as a stylist, teacher, and examiner for the Board of Cosmetology.  She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church for 70+ years.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Woodlawn Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Wall officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.
