James “Jim” Gardiner Black, 23, of Myrtle Beach, formerly of High Point, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020.

Born April 29, 1996, in Khabarovsk, Russia, he was the middle child of David Glen Black and Karen Sebralla Black of High Point. Jim attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School, The Piedmont School, and graduated from Bishop McGuinness High School. He also attended Regnum Christi Mission Corps, and recently fulfilled his dream of living in Myrtle Beach. Jim will be remembered as a “special character” who loved sharing the next best joke. He was a lifelong fan of country music and his guiding motto was, “Faith Family and Friends”.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Marina Thomson Black of Portland, Oregon; brother, Mark Gabriel Black of High Point; grandparents, Barry and Anna Jean Sebralla of Chicago, Illinois; uncles, Ronald E. Black and family of Morganton, James T. Black, Jr., and wife Wilma of Morganton, Steven R. Black of Charlotte, and Barry P. Sebralla, Jr. and family of West Chester, Ohio; and cousin Jeana Whisenant and husband Ed of Connelly Springs, as well as other extended family members.

A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, March 6, 2020, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church with Father Peter Leonard, O.S.F.S. officiating.

All are invited to a lunch reception following the Mass in St. Edwards Hall.
