Carl Jerry Williams Archdale

Jerry Williams, 76, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Hospice Home of High Point after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s. Born September 18, 1942, in High Point, he was a son of the late Carl Lester Williams and the late Millicent Rich Williams.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Norma Jean Williams.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Freeman Williams of the Home; son, Alan Jerry Williams; daughters Cheri Glasgow and husband Johnny, and Pamela Cole all of Archdale; step-son Kenneth Cummings and wife Toni of Asheboro; step-daughter, Dana Lopp and husband Michael of Lexington; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and his beloved grandpuppy, Teddy. Jerry graduated from High Point Central High School.  He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1964 and was a Vietnam Veteran, serving as a machinist.  Returning home, he continued working in his trade and retired from Amp | Tyco inc.  As a youth and well into his retirement he was an avid golfer.  Winning the High Point Enterprise Classic in 1975 and 1978 were among his proudest victories on the course.  He loved the UNC Tar Heels and all sports; Jerry Williams would never turn down a friendly competition.  He will be remembered by his family as a fighter, a fierce competitor, and the Hero of our Hearts. Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Floral Garden Park with Rev. C.W. Moss officiating.
