Jc Atkinson

John Charles “JC” Atkinson, 88, of Sophia, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, at Mount Vista Health Park in Denton.

Born June 1, 1936, in Robeson County, he was a son of the late Henry Atkinson and the late Carrie Cox Atkinson. JC attended Badin Shores Chapel and was a truck driver for Brayton International.

He is survived by his daughters, Robin Douglas and husband Mike of Sophia and Lynn Hope and husband Steve of Archdale; grandchildren, Joseph Douglas and Logan Freeman and husband Justin; great grandchildren, Harper Leigh Freeman and River June Freeman; and sister, Ann Hicks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise Carlton Atkinson; brothers, Jimmy Atkinson and Layton Atkinson; and sisters, Glady Allen, Margaret Ondovcsik, Sarah Lee, Doris Wood, Gertrude Atkinson and Helen Crawford.

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 10, 2025, in the Archdale Chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremation with Rev. Brad Garrigues officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.
