James Welton “Jay” Barnes, 66, of High Point, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Born April 19, 1954, in Sampson, County, he was a son of the late James W. Barnes and the late Elizabeth Keene Barnes. Jay was a financial manager and faithful member of Green Street Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Johnson Barnes of the home, sons, J.R. Barnes and wife Meagan of Indiana, and Brad Barnes and wife Emily of High Point; daughter, Christian Barnes of High Point; brother, Jerry Barnes and wife Terry; sisters, Judy Jackson, and husband Jimmy, Jennifer Baysden and husband Jesse, and Janet Hill and husband Jason; grandchildren, Austin Barnes, Berkeley Barnes, Caleb Shlyapnikov, Joshua Shlyapnikov, Liliana Shlyapnikov, and Baby Barnes on the way.

Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Green Street Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Ware officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.
