Janice Elaine Jones

Janice Elaine Jones, 66,  just received the highest award possible for an excellent life, she entered the kingdom of heaven on March 18th, 2025, at Hospice of Davidson County, Hinkle House.

Janice was the daughter of the late J.C. Jones and Dorothy Clinard Jones, both deceased of Thomasville NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers-in law: Mike Parrish and Rev. Willard Kiser.

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters: Lutricia Parrish, Sylvia Kiser, Carol Clark and husband David, Susan Vernon and husband Rick all of High Point NC, and one brother Larry Jones and wife Carolyn Jones of Thomasville NC, twelve nephews and nieces, thirty-six great and great great nephews and nieces, and two special cousins, Fred Potts and Jimmy Potts.

Janice graduated from Thomasville Senior High School in 1976. After receiving her degree from Ashmore Business College, she worked in the insurance industry for several years.  She later pursued her passion of cosmetology by completing her training at Leon’s Beauty School in Greensboro, NC. She worked at various beauty salons in Thomasville for several years before opening her own salon in Archdale, NC.  She maintained the same customers for decades.  She loved her work and her clients.  She saw it as an opportunity to minister to her clients and friends’ spiritual needs, including praying with them.  After a successful and rewarding experience in operating her own shop, due to physical limitations she reduced her hours and operated her beauty salon in her home.  She developed her own cosmetic line at this time.

Janice loved people.  She always saw the humor in things and could always make you feel better just by her beautiful smile and encouraging words. She loved music, especially praise and worship songs.  Janice had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in the church choir. During her high school years, she sang in “The Entertainers Ensemble” for numerous civic events.  In 1979 she competed in the Miss Thomasville Pageant and for her talent sang “The Great Love of All” recorded by George Benson.  She was selected to be one of the final four contestants and received the coveted award of Miss Congeniality.

She loved to travel and see new places, be an avid reader of books as well as her cherished Bible.  Due to physical issues, she participated in numerous online Bible Studies, loved to listen to Charles Stanley, David Jeremiah, and Chuck Swindol as well as other Evangelical Bible Teachers.  Janice collected massive amounts of journals detailing her intimate walk with Jesus Christ.

Janice faced numerous personal life challenges as well as serious physical conditions.  However, her faith in Jesus Christ and His Word never wavered and lead her to victory. During these years, she always maintained a positive Christian outlook and never questioned why me.

She had a love for dogs and had many Pomeranians throughout her life.  They were a constant comfort and companion for her.

If Janice could speak today, she would encourage all of us to follow Jesus Christ and his leading.  He gave her peace, comfort, joy and love. She will be dearly missed by her family.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the care and dignity given to Janice by Hospice of Davidson County, specifically Hinkle House.

In lieu of flowers or other means of condolence, the family requests that donations be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
