James Abraham Portee, Jr., 65, of High Point, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Hospice Home at High Point.
James Abraham Portee Jr, son of the late Mr. James A. Portee Sr and Mrs. Ruth Thelma Balem Portee, was born on December 2, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York. After spending most of his childhood in Brooklyn New York, he then moved to High Point, NC. He was employed by Guilford County school system as a teacher assistant and referee. James was always a lover of sports. He preceded in death by one brother, Fredrick Ray Balem.
James leaves to cherish his memory, three sons, Jevon Portee Sr. (Tameka Portee) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jamaal Portee and Jaquan Portee of Columbia, South Carolina. He leaves behind two daughters; Marquisha Barber from Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jenese Portee from Silversprings, Maryland. One brother Dennis Portee ( Arletha Portee) of High Point, North Carolina, and one sister Jacqueline Portee of Asheville, North Carolina, five grandchildren and special friend Roberta Barnes of High Point, North Carolina. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to nurse Deila Scale.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Wright Cremation & Funeral Service.
