James Leonard Olvey, 72, of High Point, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Born December 30, 1943 in Sylva, NC, he was a son of the late Lynn Taylor Olvey and the late Etta Barnes Olvey. Mr. Olvey was a retired machine supervisor with William Allen Furniture.

He is survived by his wife Geralene Aikens Olvey of the home; sons, Randy Olvey of Trinity, James Olvey, Jr. and wife Augusta of Archdale, Sammy Olvey and wife Kim of High Point; daughter, Joyce Langdon and Rev. John Langdon of Archdale; sisters, Shirley Long and husband Leroy of Sylva, Bea Baker and husband Bobby of Gainsville, GA, Alice Matthews of Clyde, Mary Franklin and husband Jesse of Sylva, Katie Hoxit of Waynesville, Nell Holloway of Murphy and Brenda Daggy and husband Mike of Waynesville; eleven grandchildren and nine, great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted at 6:30 PM Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at The Mission Church, 2301 S. Main St., with Rev. John Langdon officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.
