James Burton Hale

James Burton Hale, 72, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Born February 7, 1953, in Pineville, West Virginia, he was a son of the late William Leonard Hale and the late Ruth Jackson Hale.  James worked in the coal mines for sixteen years.  He was a hard working man who was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Jean Martin Hale of the home; son, Leonard Hale of Richlands, VA; daughter, Rhonda Hale of Richlands, VA; stepsons, Dexter Jackson (Laura) of Pleasant Garden, NC, Matthew Martin of Lexington, NC, and Mark Martin of Lexington, NC; stepdaughter, Delana Mitchell; twenty-five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; ten brothers and sisters and best friend/daughter, Martha Byrd.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Hale, and stepdaughter, Angela Lester.

Memorial services will be held Friday, February 14, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 101 E. Park Ave, Lexington, NC  27292, with Pastor John Powell officiating.
