Hugh Spencer Richard, 84, of Johnson St., passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Born December 13, 1931 in Flint, Michigan, he was a son of the late William Richard and the late Lorna Richard. Mr. Richard was a US Navy veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a retired US Postal Carrier a member of Jamestown Friends Meeting, and an avid world traveler. Mr. Richard was an honest hard working family man with a wonderful sense of humor, who took great care of his wife Shirley during her sickness. In 1986 while on his mail route in Fort Lauderdale, Fl., Mr. Richard saved a three-year-old boy from drowning in a canal. He received an award from the Postal Union and “The Key to the City” of Fort Lauderdale from the Mayor.

Mr. Richard is survived by his children, Ronda Wagoner and husband David, Randall Richard and wife Amber and Rene Richard all of High Point; grandchildren, Caroline Wagoner, Carlie Wagoner, Catherine Wagoner, Kayla Richard and Spencer Richard; along with beloved dog, Buddy.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of forty-eight years, Shirley Dawn Papineau Richard in 2007.

Memorial services will be private.
