Howard Truedell Hensley, 82, of High Point, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 21, 2022 at his home.
Born, August 22, 1939 in Rockingham County, he was the son of the late John Robert Hensley and the late Dorothy Elizabeth Massey Hensley. Howard proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for two terms, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served multiple tours of duty during the Vietnam conflict. Howard married the love of his life, Carol Marie Hopper on September 3, 1963. He was a faithful employee of American of High Point as a supervisor for 45 years. Howard was a dedicated family man, he had a strong work ethic, and was a role model not only two his own two sons but also many of their friends. He was full of life, and enjoyed a good adventure; often adventures involving his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Grayson Hensley.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Carol Hensley of the home; sons, Howard Hensley, Jr. (Tonya) of Winston-Salem, Tim Hensley (Shannon) of Thomasville; grandchildren, Kasey Hensley, Lauren Herndon (Edward), Colt Hensley (Ashley), Nalon Hensley, LCpl Robert Hensley- USMC, LCpl Carter Hensley-USMC, Mackenzie Lynch, Joshua Hensley; great-grandchildren, Leland Hensley, Isiah Lynch, and Landon Hensley.
A celebration of Howard’s life will be held in the chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations at 4:00 PM on Thursday, March 24, 2022 with the Rev. Roy Cantrell and Pastor Paul Coates officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
