Hilda Webb White

Hilda Lee Webb White, 87, of Elkin, formerly of High Point and Cary, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Woltz Hospice Care in Dobson.

Born December 23, 1938, in High Point, she was a daughter of the late Vernon Edward Webb and the late Pinkie Lee Mosteller Webb. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Hilda was adventurous and enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places and things. She made memories across the United States, from Boston to Los Angeles. She was a patient listener, kind and welcoming, loved laughing, and had a playful sense of humor.

Hilda moved to Cary in 1986, where she taught Sunday school to special needs kids and sang in the choir at First Baptist Church. She volunteered for the Special Olympics, worked at Hewlett-Packard for over 25 years, and ultimately retired from Lynne’s Hallmark card store (her “dream job”).

Nicknamed “Hils” by her granddaughter- a name that stuck with her whole family and many cherished friends- she courageously fought and beat breast cancer in 2007. In later years, Hils enjoyed a sunny day on her porch, listening to her wind chimes and watching her hummingbird visitors.

Hilda is survived by her sons, Scott White and wife Lori of Matthews and Nick White and wife Jennifer of Elkin; granddaughters, Piper White and June White.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00 PM until 4:30 PM Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point.
