Herbert Hoover Kennedy, 89, of Sophia, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018, at Randolph Hospice House.

Born November 19, 1928, in Guilford County, he was a son of the late James Maynard Kennedy and the late Annie Blair Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was a US Navy veteran and the retired owner of Markay Designs.

He is survived by his daughter, Kay Palmer and husband Jerry of Sophia; grandchildren, Jordan Kennedy, Amber Kennedy, Philip Palmer, and Rachel Palmer; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Nelson Kennedy, his second wife, Bobbie Tolson Kennedy; sons, Kyle Herbert Kennedy, and Jeffery Mark Kennedy; and twelve siblings.

Memorial services will be held will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Gospel Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Hill and Rev. Mike Butler officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.
