Herbert Allen Edwards

Herbert Allen Edwards, 91, of High Point, moved to his Heavenly home Wednesday, September 16, 2020.

Born June 28, 1929, in Guilford County, he was a son of the late Arthur Fountain Edwards and the late Georgia Lewis Edwards. Herb was a US Army veteran and retired from Jefferson Pilot Insurance. He was a member of Green Street Baptist Church where he served on many committees, was a choir member for over fifty years and was honored with a life-time Deacon Award. Herb was a longtime member of the High Point Civitan Club.

He is survived by his wife, June Bivens Edwards of the home; daughters, Carole Gibson and husband Ron of Laurel Hill, and Marcia McDowell and husband Mike of High Point; grandchildren, Jennifer LaRocca (Jamie), Heather Kilcoin (Michael), Laura Jones (Walt), Ryan McDowell (Carrington), and Katie Stone (Eric); great-grandchildren, Gracie, Isabella, Annie, Asher, Bennett, Perri, Charlotte, Eli, Gibson, Baxley, Carter, Gus, and Paisley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Clayton Edwards and Earl Edwards.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday, September 20, 2020, at Green Street Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Ware officiating. Entombment will be at Floral Garden Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends following the service.
